The grass is always browner when the weather is warmer.  With the recent dry weather, Metro Vancouver has been issuing some recommendations for water usage.  The summer will continue to be hot and dry in the Lower Mainland and responsible use of water is imperative.

Water use rises sharply in the summertime.  There are many wise ways to conserve our water:

  • Limit your lawn watering to once week if necessary.  Many municipalities may enforce full bans on water usage for lawn and gardening purposes.
  • Take shorter showers
  • Don’t let the water run when shaving, brushing teeth, etc.
  • When washing dishes, fill one sink with soapy water instead of having the water run constantly.
  • Store drinking water in the refrigerator.
  • When it rains, collect rainwater for watering and gardening purposes for those dryer spells in the summer.

Be mindful of the environment by being wise with water usage in the summer!
